Default Crashed M3 GT (RHD)

This popped up on my newsfeed today

Looks fairly light and fixable (it's in a bodyshop at the moment).

Apparently it wasn't the owner driving, he was a passenger!

No idea if it's being done under insurance and yes, done on track!

Looks like it needs wings, bonnet, bumper and splitter. Not sure if all the splitter parts are available from BMW anymore, a lot of GT bits are NLA now.

A lot more than that. With the crash bar bent like that, the chassis rail will be bent in. Front end will be twisted and need to be jigged or replaced. It's a whole front end job.
Front subframe mounts maybe sump. All rads etc.

That GT was crashed at Donnington last Monday on the BMW CC track day.

Was very wet in the afternoon when it happened. Shame.

Well, that one done in the rear quarter is Marks.

And if he didn't sell it, it will get fixed, he did a full body job on it a few years back.

The pictures of Mark's GT were from Copart breakers yard so not sure Mark still has it.

wonder if he let it go after the engine shat its self?

Just cant see him giving up on it, he has owned it since i had my first m3 when i was 23, so thats 12 years.

Both worth saving. They are GT cars. Will be worth big bucks in another 10/20 years.

If it was economical to fix them, and I don't think it would be, they'd be salvage titles anyway and worth a fraction of a non-wrecked one.

Not if the owner hasn't claimed they wouldn't, and being that your not insured on track they would be repaired with clean title.

No idea what its like in NZ but here, if you smash it, and no one claims against you and you don't claim there is no impairment of title.

Well since we know they're #17 and #28 we know the VIN's and anyone buying one of these would be silly not to do their research. As soon as they ask they're going to get to see these pictures right? And upon seeing these pictures they're going to be a whole lot less keen, even the seller has receipts for a brand new shell (which I realise is NLA).

My point here being I don't think it'll make economic sense, short or long term, to fix them. Power to somebody that wants to try!

The bottom one isn't that bad to be honest. And wouldn't cost that much to repair. Wouldn't put me off buying it either.
