Default Advice and info really

Love my e46 m3 vert had it a year now. Donít really drive it much as I admit I brought it as an investment and try and keep the miles down. Iíve seen this on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/282680562007 a couple of times now and love the colour. Do I sell my e46 and buy a e92 which I would use as a daily. If I do are the e92ís much faster and are they just as expensive to maintain as an e46. Iíve not driven an e92 so hoping a few people on here can share their knowledge and experience

I have owned both and to be honest I don't think the E92 is a big enough step up from the E46 to justify the cost or endless problems it will throw up.

The E92 is not particularly fast (in fact I'm not so sure it's really that much faster than the E46 in real world terms), and its no way near as good looking as the E46.

The e92 is better in everyway, its noticeably faster with a dct box, the engines can't be compared for sound or power and as a daily its a much nicer place to be.

It's more modern and that but a C63 from the same era was a far better proposition. I've owned both!

The problems on an e9x are minimal compared to e46's... Much nicer place to be and plenty faster if you buy a dct one.. The noise from the v8 with the exhaust mod is second to none... As a side note, buying a vert is never a good investment. They are like trying to give away free doses of the clap

Stick with the E46!

Had an E92 CP DCT and E46 manual at the same time, couldn't get on with the E92 at all.

Got very bored with having to adjust the settings and wring its neck to get anywhere in a hurry, I know this is the appeal to some people of the V8 but not me.

Performance wise it's quicker but not night and day, as you would expect the cabin is a better place to be for a daily and the DCT box is mightily impressive.

Personally I prefer the looks and ithe simplicity of the E46, just point ( lower the windows) and press the loud pedal!

I loved my e46 and would have another.... But I doubt I'd sell the e90 to make that happen...

Iíve had my e92 M3 for over year now itís nice car to drive as a daily as matter fact itís still better than most modern day cars Iíve driven I must admit the v8 noise it makes in the higher rev range is addictive it pulls nice and smooth, if you want to take it to some twisty roads then you can rev it out mines a manual but thatís personal choice the dct are very good better in mpg with that gearbox probs 20+mpg Now it depends how heavy your foot is as I get about 16/17mpg daily to work and back.petrol I use £120 a week like I said I do short journeys maybe thatís the reason for **** mpg. Either way I donít care about that otherwise I wouldnít of bought it. Iíve got warranty cover which covers me,so you donít need worry about stuff breaking on you.Iíve had steering rack replaced tracking done and two pre lambda sensors recently replaced in warrantyI drop car of at local bmw specialist had them diagnosed car and emailed details to warranty they gave me green light to fix what needed to be fixed that was worth every penny so I would say defiantly do it.

I've had 2 E92's. The first was a standard 2010 DCT which was good but to me felt flat.

I then replaced it with a 2012 CP DCT (after the first was stolen) which has primary cat delete and Stage 2 Evolve Map. All I can say is, the difference is huge and has made me love the car whereas before I was looking at other options after 6 months.

14 months on with the new one and I still love it. Considerably quicker, more alert and better balance between power and chassis capability.

I have had 3 e46s and now own an e92, only for a few months though.
It definitely feels way nicer to drive and a nicer place to be. I find the power quite strange, it doesn’t feel massively quick but then you look at the speedo and your doing crazy speeds. Much more refined than the e46 (as you would expect), as others had said, the sound with an exhaust mod is soooooo good.
I love the car but can’t see me keeping it as my eye has started wondering again already.

I'll be honest, this is the first thing that came to mind for me too.

I'd be tempted to jump ship based on that alone.

Don't agree with this at all, the w204 is so ugly it offends, yes with the facelift led lights, the amg bumpers and wheels etc its more bearable but it isn't what I regard as a good looking car.

The interior is what ruins it for me mostly, that ghastly little square flip out screen and the accompanying dash looks so dated and the wall of cheap looking plastic buttons

The engine and the noise is the only thing I respect and possibly the seats but aside from that I cant see the appeal.

I went from e46 M3 manual to a E90 M3 DCT (saloon) and I'm loving it, I have had it two months now, its a different kind of speed, can't explain why i like it so much. mine has a great spec compered to my old poverty spec e46.

Moral of my story is i do not regret it one bit!

Just try one and see what you think

The high revving v8 experience is not to be missed
