It is not that you are too high risk, but going by the info you've put there, it appears our underwriters are unwilling to cover an M3 parked on the street in a certain London postcode.

It is not uncommon for specialist underwriters to request that a car of the caliber of an M3 is parked off street. Especially if its in a busy/built up area. Without meaning to cause worry, even a wing mirror claim could easily exceed the cost of your annual premium.

This doesn't mean we can't cover any cars parked on the road, but we can't, and don't promise to quote everyone who gets through to us.

I trust the advisor was polite and helpful, at least. And thank you for trying us anyway.

Cheers, Alex

Hi Alex

Thanks for the explanation - I guess I was just shocked that's all. The adviser was very polite and apologetic. Great customer service, just a shame you couldn't quote me.

Hello,

I realize what they are saying, apart from the fact that
the mirrors fold in !!.But you also have a compulsary amount
you have to pay,as well as a volantary. This means you would
be paying for the mirror plus.
May sound a bit weird, but think l would get a folding metal
structure and put it round the car ???

I was speaking more hypothetically. And yes, you have an excess but claim costs on premium cars build up quickly.

And just because wing mirrors fold in, doesn't mean that have been completely removed. It simply makes them less likely to be hit. Perhaps I should have used a different example, but the point stands.

Cheers, Alex

No problem. Yes, I can easily see your POV, especially when you've been claim free and built up an impressive track record. Unfortunately however, if one requirement is not met, then it can outweigh the positives.

Thanks for trying us and please do again come renewal.

Cheers, Alex

So my metal structure would not count

I can understand the problem, but insurance companies
do overcharge the good drivers non the less. And somebody
with a record like that is paying for the ****s on the road,
plus the more and more people who are uninsured. !!!

Just off the phone to Luke at Sky Insurance. Really nice guy to chat to, sorted everything out for me and to top it off was 225 a year cheaper than Adrian Flux and 600 cheaper than than my current insurer!

Thanks very much Sky Insurance.

PS the phone number on the opening post is incorrect. I used 01717642552 or 0880 0387406

It's difficult to give an answer to that, as it will depend on what the car is, the cost of the mods, the power gains, etc.

We are a modification friendly broker, and our prices will reflect that.

Cheers,

Alex

Hello,

We can take a look, but the policy wouldn't include track day cover I'm afraid. We sell that as a temporary, standalone policy on our website.

Cheers,

Alex

Just had a quote from you guys and Performance direct. You're using the same underwriter which is highway yet your price is 33 more expensive. Match it and i'll go with you guys.
