Default Reset/Clear service reminder message

Took my E92 M3 in for a service to Rybrook Wolverhampton after getting the 'Vehicle Check' message, only to be told that the car's not due for a service till next year (after scanning the keys). The message apparently is for an MOT check (which again is not due till next year). The car had an MOT done when I bought it in June this year, and I think BMW would have missed resetting the MOT check date hence the message popped up.

Anyways, due to a confusion regarding the courtesy car, I couldn't leave the car at Rybrook on the day and get the message cleared. I was wondering if anyone on here can reset/clear the Service reminder message from iDrive for me. Seems pointless to book in for a service just for this and no saying what exorbitant rates BMW will charge for this.

Oh, I live in Coventry btw, so any forum member in the area? Or any good/trustworthy indi's in the area?

Cheers,
A

If it's for the MOT reminder, you can clear it on the Idrive yourself. Highlight that part of the service menu, click right on the controller and it'll give you the option to reset it. Then just do it again when the next MOT is done, assuming the garage/BMW/whoever don't do it for you.

Thanks Slarty! Never thought of that - its done now! Changed date to remind me when the next MOT check is due. Sytner Coventry was quoting 25 to do it.

Thanks Makavelli. Definitely want to avoid Sytner after a bad buying experience I had in their Birmingham dealership. If I dont mind asking - are you based in Midlands? Any good BMW Specialist Indi's you know of in the area?

I was thinking of using BMW only when I have to take it for a scheduled services, and that too only for the dealer stamp in my service booklet - the booklet has all the stamps from dealerships so far, I'd like to maintain that. For anything else, I would like to use a trusted Indi to be honest.

Cheers,
A

Hi Mate, I am also in Coventry.

I have used Dack Motor group a couple of times as they came highly recommended through a trade friend and they have been better than my experience with dealers. I had them fit my H&R Springs and alignment and found them to be great.

Speak with Leo and he will look after you.

Cheers Makavelli. Checked out their website already. Looks like a bunch of guys who know what they are doing.

On a related note - are there any recommended body shops around the area? I would like to add on some black carbon bits (kidney grills, front bumper splitters, M-Performance spoilers etc) in due course. I could do it myself - but lack of tools, garage space etc puts me off. Plus the fear of screwing it up. I have this workshop called - Auto Bodyworx close to where I live - Anyone on here used their services? I also need to replace one of the 'Engine-compartment shield tip', Part no: 23, in the attached image. And that would need a jack or a hydraulic lift. I have heard horror stories of body shops not using the jacking points and ripping of the side skirts etc - so want to be cautious who I get the job done from.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
A

I can't help with anything other than to suggest getting some of these.

You won't have to worry about the plastic jack points being destroyed then (assuming the garage uses them!)
