Guess it depends where you are too, I can see dealers in more rural areas do a lot more for you than ones where they haven't got to put any effort in to sell cars.

My new one (Dec 2016) is "Revision 4", this follows the Part No on the "ID" plate, so could be "02", "03", or like my one "04".

Makes you wonder wtf bmw are doing to need to make 4 revisions to an exhaust.

Do you know the changes that were made? I didn't know there were different ones, mine ends with 02 with an /3 stamped differently onto the plate

As far as I can ascertain, "01" & "02"'s were the early type which were the ones that cracked (the ones without the 2 tubes welded in, north to south in each half).
All were stamped "02", then when reworked (the tubes added, Visible from outside, in the center of each half as a through hole) the "2" was etched/struck out and a "3" or later ones a "4" added.

"04"'s have additional gussets to stop certain resonant frequencies, and modification to improve internal flow. These differences can be seen if you look down tailpipes and compare.

Getting this info was like extracting teeth ! QUOTE: "there was no problem with cracking and it was purely a customer experience enhancement"

Do you not have a dealer receipt for another part, that could be scanned and "edited"

Mine came with the car done 4k miles over two years old so BMW dismissed it out of hand, and I had the reciept. BMW are **** on anything like this they do not understand the meaning of good will or manufacturing defect.

I've got an early one with no through tubes, bought it when it was fairly new and I have put nearly 20k miles on it and luckily it still looks fine!
