Have you been sniffing the fuel or putting it in? If the hose symbol is in the right, it's indicating the filler is in the right. It's the filler side that it's indicating, not where the hose is on the pump.

No, you see, the way I've always heard it is that the icon on the dash indicates the type of pump that you need, nozzle on the left or right. NOT that it points to which side of the car that the filler is on. If it's the latter, you're right, the icon is on the correct side.

It's definitely the latter, nothing to do with the pump.
