Once up to scratch running costs can drop down big time. I am just starting the same process with my m3 getting it up to scratch .

But at the end of the day the turbo is an epic ride by any standard

agreed, I did the same with mine.

Go to view the car and have the opinion that it is mint and you don't need to spend anything on it for a while.

Then get it home and start to think of little jobs to do (that in all honesty don't really need doing), and before you know it you've just spent a small fortune on getting your new purchase up to a higher level of minty-ness.

Car forums don't help keep your money in your pocket

I’ve dug out my spreadsheet, these prices are all from 2013/14 though.

Fronts
GT3 6 pot calipers………………Ebay……………………….£800.00
Caliper Pin Kit......................Porsche Calipers……..£42.00
Front Brake Pads PF-06……..Porsche Calipers……..£200.00
Anti Squeal Shims (12 off)….Porsche Calipers…….£112.00
Disc Screws (4 off)………………Design 911…………….£2.40
GT3 Caliper bolts………………..Leicester OPC……..…£13.00
Front 997 Discs…………………..Type911……………..…£306.00

I’m pretty sure the shims weren’t required, they are the same on the old calipers, Ken will tell you.
I think the 997 calipers do fit, I do remember looking but it’s been a while, again, Ken will tell you.
Don’t get Performance Friction pads, they turned my Porsche into a wheelbarrow, the squeal even when not braking.
He’s really good is Ken, knows his stuff, but he always talks about the massive cost as if he’s setting you up for a bill, so it always put me off him.
You need the longer GT3 caliper bolts, I paid twice because the ones listed on design911 were too short. There is a 5% discount code on 911uk.

I always use Matt at Type911, he gives a much more personal service and I think cheaper. I just email him when I need something now.

Rears
Rear 997 Discs………………….….Type911……………….£250.00
Rear Caliper Spacers…………...Design911…………….£105.00
Rear Brake Pads………………….Design 911……………£185.96

Ceratec Grease…………………..Design 911…………....£3.33
ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid...Design911……………..£29.40

You can see how old this is, ATE blue is now discontinued. I also used the very excellent dual power bleeder, I’ll post a pic later. It was pretty awesome and made the job real easy.

Do you remember if you got the 996.1 GT3 or 996.2 GT3 calipers, they have different part numbers and pads?
