Default Home garage maintenance

I plan to start doing a suspension strip down and clean after new year. Wife is asking what I want for Christmas so think this may be the chance to get some good gear to lift the car high enough to work on the car in reasonable comfort. I.e. High enough to get under the car without my nose getting oily and enough to get some leverage on tight stuff.

I've got a 2t trolley jack and 4 axle stands. What else should I get the wife to get. Assume a couple of hundred here, not a. Twin post set up or anything!

The central jacking point is difficult to get to without first raising the car and putting something under the wheels to give enough space for the trolley jack

Some low ramps would be good for this purpose. You'll still need to raise the rear separately. Something like this perhaps: http://www.discountramps.com/black-w...amps/p/PSR295/ need to be shallow enough to not hit the front bumper on the way up. Need to be quite low in this regard.

Axle stands are also not quite suited to the BMW jacking points and risk damaging the sill or undertray. You could use wood to distance the jack pad from the stand. Or get some of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Rubbe...-/151104545233

Could get some wheel chocks too...

what about a decent mat to lie on or one of those wheeled things you lie on? Cold hard floor always does my knees in!

theyre worth having but you will find yourself rolling off it to get extra space and leverage from time to time
