Doesn't it all depend on how reputable the Indy is?

If it's by a well known BMW specialist then I would actually prefer that. I know it doesn't help residuals down the line, but if you're getting a good price, and intend on hanging onto the car, then why not take a look?

Although I do agree that it's a bit odd that the car didn't have a service pack.

The service pack is not a problem to me my m4 never had service pack.

In fact I was told recently it wouldn't make sense for me to have it.

Car needed to be covered by warranty once you purchase a car that expensive and if bmw or any other companies decline your warranty your getting coz of where it was serviced I’d forget it.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks
Dont know what your budget is but honestly see mine, in comparison with that then truly youd get an idea on how they are suppose to be.

Did you check this one out OP? I saw this online and also made enquiries but for me the history didn't quite stack up. It appears the car is a LCI 2013 one, perhaps one of the first. However, it was originally a BMW car and wasn't 'registered' until 2014 - is this normal? Upon checking the VIN, I recall it had a 2 year service pack, so why didn't the owner service the car at BMW?! Bizarre if you ask me, or perhaps they didn't know.

Also if you see the gaps between the services, they're pretty big. There's no evidence of any oil changes in between and no invoices either. All of these issues made me steer clear. The rear diffuser has been painted to look like a 520d! To be fair, it is an above average spec but I'm sure there will be more M5s on in the new year and the prices are dropping each month....

Weird it was registered in 2014 with a 2013 plate, didn't even notice that. I was told it was an ex bmw demo car as well.

The services in the book were :824, 15623, 35828, 39214 and oil being changed at each one, but stamped book only, and no invoices to verify. If it was bmw history, it would appear on the i-drive.

As much as I like the look of the car, I've decided against it as no verified history on a car like this is just asking for trouble. I'm happy to drive my e60 535d around until the right one comes up

Yeah so BMW did the RIS before registration - odd I guess. Some quite big mileage gaps in the service there and I gather the latest one will / was done at Morgan Cars themselves.

I think this one is best avoided unless you can get it for 25/26k! Too much risk...

Yes morgan cars have done last one but not stamped it yet, guess theyll do it at point of sale - which is wrong to me.

They want 28,500 for it, not worth risking. Ill hold out until next year, actually considering selling my 535d for a F01 740d for the meantime

I just found a great car on Auto Trader.

B21playa, this may be worth looking at if it's within budget you could make a cheeky offer as I think it's expensive for a non franchised dealer. Miles are low and spec seems good. And it's an lci car.

Forgot to update, I purchased a lci one with competition pack about a month ago. 50k on the clock, extended bmw warranty for less than 30k

I find it funny that when a topic comes up about servicing our cars in general, everyone states how we are all shafted by the dealer and we are only paying for the bmw stamp above all else, but when it comes to a thread about buying a car without bmwfsh everyone says to leave it!.. all cars in the past I've preferred a Specialist Indy servicing to main dealer, but I fear that if I do go the Indy route myself then my car will be slated when for sale and people would advise to leave it alone, even though I'm generally more confident in specialist indys over main dealers.

I looked on bmw website for cost of oil service before buying which was about 180, now is 311.

What could cost so much to increase it by 70%

Very true. I just stick to BMW main dealer servicing for continuity, and because matching stamps is what buyers want to see.
