E36 M3 LTW Strut Brace big price difference from the same supplier

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Motors...53.m1438.l2649

https://rallyroad.net/collections/e3...6struttowerbar

ebay 1,505.00
Supplier site 474.00
Differnce 1,031.00

I can't see any difference other than the raised bit to stick your M badge on.
What do you think. I may buy one as it's the closest I can find to the OEM BMW LTW brace.

This is what the real one looks like

That’s weird. That’s the same supplier, or using their name. Just too big a difference, something must be off.

Those prices are $ when I open the links.

^ they've done that before, it's deliberate. I contacted them a year or so ago and they bump the eBay price when they're out/low on stock (so people don't order one). Apparently this is less expensive wrt eBay fees. They were quite straight up about it when I contacted them.

So order or contact them via their web site and they'll see you right. I dealt with Eric and they certainly know their E36's.

I have one of the front bars and it's the business. I did get it powdercoated matt black to emulate the original because my RR one came with a dark/deep purple anodised type finish, a bit weird. Having said that I got mine years ago when they were US$270 or so... it didn't take them long to realise they were onto a good thing and raise the base price. Theirs is both lighter and stronger than the BMW Motorsport one.

I got all my chassis and subframe reinforcements from them also and they were excellent quality.

I bought this strut bar from their online store few years ago, shipping to Europe was not a problem. Eric from Rally Road shop was very helpful. Happy with the purchase. The only differences I could spot between OEM and this one are obviously the ///M badge and Rally Road one is more shiny surface than the original. In overal - thumbs up, having in mind it is around half or third the price of the OEM.

Thanks fellas for the great information, it's assuring to hear satisfaction of a product and service. It does look a quality brace. I'll buy one but not just yet. I need to get some higher priority things done first, but having said that I don't hang about.

Yep happens a lot on eBay with all sorts of items. Low or no stock and they pump the price sky high.

Just curious here. Source for this? I guess you could both weigh them, but did anyone actually perform a load/strength/break test on both?

Either way, if same price and availability, Id pick the OEM one over any aftermarket bar.

Sorry to change the subject, but have you seen this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-Ser...EAAOSwGARay-7~

I love the "valuer's comments" about the future value :-)

An auto? on an S50B32? Really? Blimey! I didn't know they ever did that - not even for those weird Americans. What a strange drive that must be. 244k miles too.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

I don't have an official source sorry. I've held both (with end mounts attached) and the RR one is obviously lighter. As for strength, I don't know tbh. RR described on their web site that it is an enhanced design and upon casual inspection I'd say that's true.

Agreed though, if same price and availability, Id pick the OEM one over any aftermarket bar. Problem is that's a divide by zero equation when it comes to the OEM bar now...
