Default Late Edition, Mint, Optioned, Estoril Blue E46 M3 Manual Coupe

Thought it might be worth while to add a Restoration thread, because its a very very good example. Shocked in fact after at least 12 E46 M3's that where Tip Top.

My aim is to have this car looking like it left BMW, within reason of course. The outside is without question done, it is spotless.

How it turned up....

First things first, today saw a few mates round, and had all the calipers, removed, prepared and painted gloss black, all the discs and pads are new, so although boring does look nice. All arches and things you don't see cleaned and treated.

It was a chance to space the car within a MM of its life (I have a whole shelf full of spacers) and I managed to achieve 20 mm front and 15 mm rear with the new Conti Sport 6 tyres and the tyre profile without any rubbing, spirited driving and 4 up !

Some pictures, the devil is in the detail.

Really nice motor, Lee. Great choice in colour and spec.

Out of the last 2 I've seen you acquire, the SG and the DY, this one is my fav.

When you get round to stripping the interior trim bits out and replacing, I'd be interested to know whats available, I have a lot of updating on mine to do, inside and out so anything you are looking to get rid of may be re-usable in mine

I don't want to be seen as nit picking, but if you're restoring the car to the condition it left BMW in, then painting the calipers gloss black isn't the way to do it. In the interest of balance though, love the car ! :-)

looks nice bet that wasn't cheap, but why the spacers if keeping it OEM as it left BMW ?

Sure its only a small thing but surely defeats the object.

My pet hate is sucked in wheels, but they are easy on and off, and the Calipers looked tied, so short of buying new ones, it was gloss black. They look so much better.
