Hi John, I had a small tide mark at the top of my rear view mirror that I noticed on Friday. I read a few threads on here and they recommended removing it from the car and then removing the glass ASAP. I can tell you that as soon as I started to take it apart the fluid started to come out and it is really corrosive to the plastics. So good advise is to change this mirror before it does any damage to the centre console or the mirror. I will send you a PM for a new rear view and side mirrors as I might as well do them all at the same time. Martin

That's strange...? Perhaps the plus sign has got rubbed off? When I did mine, the positive terminal was the top one, if you're looking at it, like so:

Don't worry about the + ve and - ve, just make sure the light sensor is positioned above the flattened section on the mirror glass. If you look at the mirror it isn't symmetrical. It will make sense when you look at it again!

Hi John, do you offer an exchange on these rear view mirrors? I noticed that my glass has failed, it's gone yellow with a clear patch around the top of the glass.

If you post it to me, I will repair your mirror the day that I receive it.

Alternatively is there any chance you are going to the Bmw Casino meet in Birmingham tomorrow?

I'm down in West Wales so that's a little out of the way for me.

I was hoping to get an exchange mirror from yourself, fit it and then return the old core for the surcharge credit.

Fair enough. I thought I would ask as I am there tomorrow at the meet; repairing mirrors for people, so if you were going I could repair it for you while you waited.

The exchange service is a possibility if yours has no cosmetic damage. The exchange is 130+ 100 deposit (plus delivery). If I receive your mirror back without any damage then I refund the deposit. Not trying to worry you but approx. half the mirrors I receive from the exchange have damage from leaking fluid and are not suitable for deposit refund. This is why I always recommend where possible a DIY repair using my online step by step guide or posting me the mirror for me to repair.

If you would still like to go with the exchange service please be aware of the risk and definitely have a look at the bottom of your mirror. When they fail and they start to leak, gravity pulls the fluid down. It can start to leak at the seam by the alarm led cover. This is where you can see evidence of the plastic being eaten away by the fluid.

Let me know if you have any questions.
