Bugger!! I have heard a lot of talk about standard suspension being important, so hoped the exhaust wouldn't be an issue, The Miltek box is considerably lighter than the OEM box so really it should be beneficial!

Have you already spoken to Winchester then and got no joy?
When is your car booked in by the way mate?

Basically i was recommended by a few guys on here to goto Murketts BMW in Huntingdon for a subframe check. All booked and went today and i goto the desk to clarify that the inspection is free ......... it seems not to be, the wankers wanted 117 quid plus VAT even though i took pics of the subframe and sent it to them. Even mentioned that the crack is visible as soon as you ramp the car !!

Got the keys back and decided to book the car in with another dealership who are checking the car over for FREE . Cant believe some dealerships try to play the dumbass card even though they clearly know the subframe failure is a common fault on these cars. To anyone here i recommend that you dont goto Murketts as they will want a diagnosing fee of 117 + VAT plus the biggest BS you will ever hear in your life.

When people have had their floors done in the past have you/they recieved courtesy cars while the car is being fixed?

Bit of a long shot as they are doing this out of good will but was just wondering?

Are CS alloys with standard tyre sizes OK to leave on the car?

Im not entirely sure, most seem to think its just suspensin mods. But I have genuine csl alloys and I am still swapping over to OEM's to be on the safe side

The dealership have told me I will get a courtesy car if I need one, he said it may not be a BMW, this is because BMW UK pay for it not the dealership. He said they could just use a hire company. You only get it once the repair has been approved by BMW UK. Mine was put in thursday last week! Not yet approved!

A tip is if your crack is BIG and you can get your MOT re-done, point it out so it gets failed. The dealership will treat it as a priority then. (if they aknowledge the problem).

so do BMW keep your car until they approve the repair? Or do they just have it for a few hours and check it/take pics and then get back to you?

I've not spoken to winchester yet, you could try them and ask them to talk to Mark Kent at hungerford BMW on 01488 682772 if they need help with the problem. he should be able to put them on the right track.

I know the tech data says the car shouldn't have any suspension mods but lets say you were BMW UK, would you use the arguement that that exhaust could potentially give you more BHP than standard and as such cause the floor to crack? I would and then I'd spend millions proving it so I saved more by not repairing the cars.

Ok people if anyone is near or doesn't mind abit of a drive a cannot recommend BMW NORTH OXFORD enough.

Rang them up yesterday to enquire about the subframe crack and they said pop it down today anytime you like and we will get it straight on the ramp.

Which they did within 3 mins of me walking through the door.A cheeky cup of coffee later i was asked to come into the workshop and have a look for myself and bodyshop manager pointed out where they go and how mine is perfect. As they had wiped all the crap off the floor to get a good look at it they then recoated it in wax.

Told me he is aware of this commom problem and the newest car he has seen it on was an 03 coupe.Said 99% of the time BMW will cover all the costs the only time they can get funny is if the car has been a Cat C/D or a lack of stamps in the service book.

Also came striaght out and said if any of the guys i know on the forum want there cars checked them bring them down.

Seriously impressed and charged naff all

HyperM3- Thats good to know about BMW fixing them 99% of the time.

Got mine booked in to my local BMW next friday for them to check it out as I told them I have already got a crack. If anything comes from it and they say "we dont know about this" or "no chance we will do the work for free" etc etc then i'll tell them to get in touch with North Oxford BMW and hopefully they can put my dealer in the right direction

Cheers

Make sure its the North Oxford Bodyshop in Long Hanbrough(Technical a MINI dealer) not the main dealer in oxford, tho they are the same is saves getting shoved from pillar to post.Main Manager there is David Smith.
