Thanks for the picture of the rear speaker, RS2000. This should definitely be a sticky thread.

Regarding the warranty work, mine was registered in mid-May 2005 (it was on a Scottish plate then, not a London one as several seem to be).

So I took it to my local main dealer for some paint work under warranty. They've called me since to say they've had conflicting information from BMW. On the one hand they say the warranty is from the date of manufacture, Nov-04 (which seems like b0llocks, because no one tells you when the car was made when you buy it). But on the other hand, they've accepted the work.

So there is currently confusion about whether they will actually do it. I'm waiting for them to call back to say whether the work can go ahead.

Edit: They've accepted it, and I see it already is sticky! Well done mods.

I'm going through this situation also at the moment.... I've another thread about it somewhere so wont bore you with the details here.

I ended up on the phone to Laura (It was always her who answered phone and replied to emails) at BMW customer services who confirmed it was 12 years from date of registration.

Dealer is to call me back by close of play Friday.... so 18 hours left... not holding breath.

Did you get a call? Mine is in at the moment for the paintwork. They've given me a Mini Cooper to potter around in.

Been chasing it every day, they didn't ring me. I rang them 4 times and was promised a call back each time which never came. Eventually I asked if I could hold until the Manager became available.

He asked me to take the car in this Wednesday so they can take a look. Nothing beyond that at this stage.

Default New owner of M5interuk's Silverstone Edition

Hi guys,

Joined the forum a few weeks ago to be able to search and pry as I looked into ownership ahead of buying an M3. I'm now the proud owner of PP86792 having bought it from InterM5uk Thursday last week. Absolutely loving it, dream car alongside my 1974, Inka Orange 2002; although that one has been off the road for a couple of years following the birth of my daughter. The plans are to get the 02 back on the road ready for spring 2018 then it will be BMW heaven that summer.

No plans for the M3 SE apart from maintaining it and keeping it stock.

Look forward to being part of the forum and learning from you good folks.

Cheers,
Robie

Evening folks. I own PP86882. Had the car for 3 years now, no better colour as far as I'm concerned and I don't ever want to get rid of it! Bought it with 22k odd on it, none of which was done in the wet and 3 years later I'm now at 38,1xx, use my van through the week so it's my weekend toy. Would love to know its history though I was told it's first owner sold it after only a few 100 miles for some reason.

Great thread by the way, very interesting stuff.

Hi Mate- I am the guy that gave you the link to this thread on FB. Yours is very low mileage!!! combine that with the fact it is a manual Silverstone edition and you have a nice little nest egg!!!

Welcome BigGM3, finally another one on the list accounted for!

Is it on an 05 plate or 54?

I noticed on the invoice for the recent job that BMW carried out for me that they correctly identified my car as 'EDITION'.
does everyone else with one get that too?

Thanks for the compliment. Yes, CSL reps. They were on the car when I bought it.

As tempting as it is to change suspension and lower it slightly and even to have a CSL bootlid, part of me feels it should stay standard due to the rarity.

Yep, my paperwork says that too. Think it says it on one of the handbooks too.

Hi all,

Another Cutters member has been working to design a Plaque for our Silverstone Edition cars. The basis of the design has been to match the theme of previous plaques BMW has fitted to limited edition cars from the factory.

We have both been shopping around to find who can create the plaque at the best price. We've had prices ranging from 5 each right up to 105 each based on varying levels of quality and the following is what we've settled on.....

Laser engraved brushed stainless steel measuring 45mm x 23mm x0.9mm with charcoal infill of all lettering except the ///M logo which will be engraved and left self coloured on stainless. Automotive spec adhesive on the rear.

Each plaque will have the unique car number out of the 50 cars produced.

This is the design of the plaque:

This is the charcoal infill that will be used on all lettering EXCEPT the ///M logo:

This is the standard Stainless Steel infill that will be used for the ///M logo:

The price I have been quoted is based on a minimum order of 10 plaques, an order of less than 10 increases the price by approximately 15 per plaque!

The plaques will be delivered to me as a job lot and I will need to post each one out individually so I've added 3 P+P costs to the price per plaque.

The total price per plaque delivered to UK mainland (excluding highlands) will be 25 each including the 3 I added on for P+P. (assuming I can get at least 10 orders).

On less than 10 orders it works out at around 40 per plaque.

The quote I have is valid for 30 days.
We need to establish at least 10 interested people (so please contact anyone you know outside of cutters also) and once 10 or more are confirmed, payment will need to be paid to my paypal under friends and family before I confirm the order.

One final thing, if anyone knows the perfect spot to locate the plaque on the car please go ahead and suggest... and also suggest the size that would be required to fit that space - We've just got quotes on a standard size for now without really considering where the plaque will be located.

Any thoughts, opinions, interest?

This is great. Thanks for posting it here Steve. I will definitely take one. Do you need to know which car now, or will you sort that later?
