Running standard I get 25.5 mpg average. And that's a mix of driving normally @ 70MPH on motorway, and playing around the lanes.

The 2.7 V6 allows you to drive it without having to much turbo, so the fuel is ok.

Running on v-power means its not a cheap fill up, but servicing costs so far have been ok. Had to pop some cooling sensors in the other week, and had all fluids topped up, new oil and filter, and brake fluid change, all under £500.

The tyres are not to dear either, and brakes can be dear, as the disks are on floating hubs, but mine are all ok fortunately ;0)

E46 M3 Estate with auto would work for sure, Ill ;et the ebay advert run it course, and if it doesn't sell, back under a cover as weekend toy, and the daily runner will have to be sold ;0(

That will be replaced for something BMW Coupe shaped and interesting.

Yes these are a real weapon. I’m on the SRS forum. Miles ahead of an E46 M3 in my opinion in terms of a daily drive and when tuned up like mine not a lot can keep up.
Cams and turbos are the main things to look out for but other than that normal upkeep of a car.

Porsche killer. Out of curiosity have you had much interest in yours John?

Had a few cheeky offers yes, but no one serious. No one has viewed it.

My mate recently bought a c5 RS6 bog standard 2003 only 55k on the clock, he’s a single lad, I’ve 3 kids and an e46 m3, which funnily enough doesn’t get used much as we just jump in our 2015 X3 xdrive30d m sport which is just more suited for the kids, he said what you need is an RS6 as a weekend toy not the m3, I said, if I ever changed the m3, (and I mean I bloody love my m3) I said it would be for a B5 RS4 avant! I just don’t know if I’d have the balls to get rid of the m3 as I’ve done so much to it and literally always look back at it every time I walk away from it!

Looks like a lovely example and defiantly appreciating in value and people clearly love these cars, there’s a lot of appreciation for them.

I had a 2003 RS 6 when I had my M3 as my weekend car.

It broke in spectacular fashion.

They are a good car, but bit big to be a weekend toy, they are a bit heavy and lack feedback for a sports car. They are more of a cruiser that can unleash hell on the motorway. IMO.

The gearbox can't cope with the power, and the dynamic ride just breaks all the time, that's why I went RS4 route, manual and standard suspension more reliable.

I had a e46 m3, loved it, loved that raspy sound, but the rs4 came up at a stupid price I couldn't refuse. Luckily the m3 sold within 24hours maybe someone on here I don't know.

I bought the RS and haven't looked back.

Heís always had big wafty cars, had a Volvo 850R last and he wishes he kept it now, heís just done a major service and cam belt gearbox service but has budgeted for replacing all the suspension and knows the gearbox will need sorting as it wonít last because he will tune it the car! But yeah we drove from Kent to Devizes on a training course and it cost the same in fuel as the hotel B&B for 2 nights! But itís never going to get used much really. Like my m3, Iíve just like 14/1500 miles in 18months! I just feel if I had a bit more room Iíd use a weekend car more as I could throw all the family stuff in it too!

Your RS4 is nice I like it a lot!

Tracked a few of my m3s and they go well, even with standard suspension and brakes, but they are heavy, you can get embarrassed by a small stripped out pocket rocket that handles, as I found out lol.

The M3 is a great all round car, you can track it for fun, or cruise to work and back or have a weekend Euro trip and that's why they are so popular.

Not tracked the Audi, might be a bit heavy and to be fair its more respected, and you tend to leather the cars on track.

Thanks for comments, shame can not find it a new home.

Lovely car mate good luck with sale, i have one too my second atm, my first was running 623ps 851nm what a motor was epic in every way , not much could keep up with it

These are light years ahead of there time, ive grown up driving m cars but there is something about a b5 rs4's that gets under your skin...cult status like no other, smooth fast and rappid in the wet

Defo prices will rise in the future.
