Default Matt black splitter and side blades on sapphire black car?

Hi all

I've got a sapphire black F83 cp on order and am looking at adding side blades and a splitter for starters.

Do you think Matt black would look ok? Or should I get them painted? Just worried about chipping paint etc on the splitter if/when I whack it on a curb etc.

Also do you have to have the carbon corners?

Really want to stick with genuine bmw stuff rather than other brands

Thanks
Gareth

Congratulations on your purchase. I would go gloss black personally (I like shiny things) but will probably look OK in Matt. You don'y have to have the carbon corners but they do transform the look.

Spot on thanks chaps.

Was at the BMW show at beaulieu yesterday and saw loads in Matt black but not on a black car

Will def go with painting them still undecided on the carbon corners

Gloss black all day long. Matte black out the box is unfinished and is just for the tightarses. They'll go blue in the face protesting that they're happy with it but they know gloss black looks more classy.

If you're going to paint them...then go for some contrast by painting them gloss red or any other colour of your choosing.

It may add a bit of surface interest to the overall look of the car.

Yeah that could look really cool. Think you'd also need to get the rear diffuser done too and maybe a thin decal on the body.

Yep I removed my front splitter and carbon bits and had plate removed and smoothed just deciding on which route to go next

They are not unfinished , I use some trim polish by auto finesse same as on my windscreen seals and it puts a nice shine on them

They're unfinished in the sense that body coded bumpers always looked better than black in the 90s.

Can I just check that you don't have to have the carbon corners with the splitter?

I think the BMW website says you have to have both?

If BMW fit it yes , I ordered just the front splitter with mine from factory and when I went to pick it up it had the carbon on , they said BMW won't let you have the splitter without them so I got them free !!! Tried to fit my splitter when I removed carbon but it just doesn't line up right without the carbon

Agreed, I had matt black on my last car and hated them. Would have got them gloss black if I hadn't sold it so quick

My M3 is Sapphire Black and I have the carbon corners with the matte black tightarse splitter I purely got this as its cheaper option over the carbon version, the missis drives the car 3 days a week so I have no doubt one day I will come home to see its been smashed against a curb

I like the contrast and haven't thought about painting it but long term I can imagine it would look better in gloss black.
