Default Insurance gone mad!

Got my renewal from Competition Car Insurance through the post.

M3 - 2012 registered - Comp Pack, DCT, fully loaded, no mods. Value 40,000

Insurance quote: 833, 500 excess, 6000 miles per year. Includes 5 track days per year.

Just decided to try CompareTheMarket for a laugh as I felt the quote was high.

It's come back with 324 on the same terms with the exception of no track day cover. Which I could no doubt take out separately should I need it.

Are CCI just trying to put me off renewing with them?

What's everybody else using for track day cover because I don't fancy taking a car of this value onto a track without it?

The other thing you might lose out on with the cheaper policy is the ability to drive other cars tpf&t, I know I did! They didnt make this obvious on purchase.

I would imagine its the track days that are the reason for the huge loading and therefore why you are able to obtain cheaper quotes from the market, just not on a like for like basis.

I was under the impression that decent track day cover is circa 100 per day so that quote sounds reasonable to me. The excess stinks but I'm guessing due to track day use.

CCi can't cover me on the E46 anymore (at any price)

They lost one or more of their big underwriters in 2011 apparently, which meant they couldn't offer renewal quotes to some - myself included

My CCI policy this week came back 643 inc 6 trackdays (down about 12%), 8k miles, wife and me, car in garage at night and down to 535 if i do less than 6k miles a year.

Aviva have rejigged their cover but just check you havent been stuck in the wrong zone with too many extrs

Green light offered me a really good quote with a 40 premium for each track day... Which is very reasonable IMO

That's interesting, Greenlight wouldn't quote me on my new E92 as it was valued at over 30k :-(

I went on to compare the market.com and although I got a quote for an 08 e92 m3 coupe manual for under 300 and does not include track days was looking threw other prices and a company called one quote direct quoted me over 27000 and does not include track days unbelievable what they will try and charge you with 15 years of driving, clean driving licience and never claimed off insurane in my life
