Good day at the Stratstone meet, some great cars.

Had a MetaTrack Cat 5 tracker fitted, seems a good bit of kit and worth looking at. I think to justify the cost it needs to go on a car you're looking at keeping.

Fancy changing the backbox but with not too many V6 being about there isn't much of a choice and don't really fancy the custom route. When the cars were in the V6 Trophy race series a French firm called Orbisound Technologies made the exhausts, got in touch with them on the off chance and they have been more than helpful. Their exhausts come out under the name of Orbisoud and one should be with me by mid to late Sept meaning it should then sound how it should. Its a bit like the E92 M3, the sounds needs unleashing.

Not so much a build thread Lee as there isn't going to be a build as such.

TBH I don't think it'd raise enough interest on here with it not being a M build however, for the few that may be interested, it'll be updated as and when anything gets done.

Went into the detailers yesterday and should get it back Saturday. The paint is in pretty good nick already so should be a bit on the shiny side by then.

The car is in at the detailers this week and is coming along well,

The guy really goes overboard when it comes to attention to detail (no pun intended). With IronX, some other stuff I forget the name of, claying and washes between each stage it took just short of 4 hrs before it was taken inside!

He then spent most of the afternoon wet sanding the headlights to lose the "old age yellow tint", that bit had me wondering if it'd work on me.

Anyhow, 1st stage of the 2 stage polish about done and looks 100% better already.

One of my previous cars he did, his work is outstanding.

I went down to have a look at this yesterday. Bri was there looking very 'fetching' in his golf shorts

Aaron goes into mega detail (excuse the pun). He was doing the windows while I was there and must have spent an hour applying the products alone! I must say the car looks absolutely epic and it's only had its two stage machine polish so far. The final coating has yet to be applied.

So impressed that I booked mine in for 16th September.

Put the pics up Bri

Pleased you liked the shorts mate, shame about the 2 bits of white cotton hanging from them

Collected this afternoon, only currently have this phone pic but Arun will fire some over later.

Will be better when the new backbox arrives and I can lose the crappy old rusty one.

Also just ordered a clear engine cover.

New Dzus bolt kit eventually arrived so, rather than a generic pic as above, the clear cover is now on my car!

All I need now is the Frenchies to get back from their hols and get my backbox made and sent over.

Not sure if anyone reads this with it not being a M car but, time on my hands so thought I'd update

The Froggies doing the exhaust are on hols until the end of August which has meant I've had time to um and ahh about it.

Had a sudden thought the other day as to whether or not I'd have to pay VAT on the exhaust, googled it and didn't like the answer! Their kit is along the lines of, or maybe a bit more expensive, than SuperSprint stuff so by the time the VAT is added it becomes a case of "how fooking much?"

Change of plan time seeing as I ain't made of money. Mailed them to bin the order and decided to go down the Quicksilver route, still an expensive bit of kit for what it is but 600 less than the one planned. Only 7 day manufacture and delivery so, whilst the car is down at SGMotorsport next week for the best part of 2 weeks, it'll be delivered there and fitted before I collect it.

It'll certainly improve the sound of the car

Anyhow, Sunday, raining, sod all on the box, time for an update,

Car went to SGMotorsport nr Chippenham as planned,

Came out with new cambelt, new water pump, new clutch, front brake callipers the right way up (whoever refitted them stuck them on upside down), new bottom pulley, new idler pulleys, new filters, aircon regassed, new wear strip to bottom of the front spoiler, new front wheel arch plastics ( a one piece item that goes across the whole front end) and the Quicksilver exhaust fitted). Left him with it for the best part of 2 weeks, benefit of all this is that anything that he said it needed was done. Plus, if anything needs doing engine wise or ancillary wise it's normally an engine out job, meaning it made sense to get it all sorted whilst it was sat on his bench.

Engine with the covers off, whoever thought of shoving this thing in place of the rear seats either deserves a medal or a trip to the madhouse.

Rear end looks better with the new backbox, nice to get rid of the rusty oem one especially as it could be seen through the mesh.

Thought about getting a set of PH2 wheels, same wheels but 18" dia instead of the PH1 17". Can't get them new anymore from Renault and OZ don't make them any more!
Brand new set on eBay but they're 2500, used set in need of a refurb up for 1300, offered him a grand but that didn't work so ordered 15mm spacers for the front and 10mm for the rear.

Have been toying with the idea of new seats but was wary of putting some in that spoilt the look of the car. Also the interior is either dark blue or grey and, in my eyes, black seats would look a bit iffish.
Off down to GSM then, fortunately not too far from me. Had spent hours on their site and was swaying towards some of their classic buckets. Now I'm not exactly Mr Lardarse but apart from one, I couldn't get my hip bones in them!
It boiled down to a pair of these, Cobra RSR Classics. Ordered them in Navy Blue.

Sorting the bus size steering wheel out at the same time, this is on it's way to me then will be off to Jack @ Royal to be redone in dark grey alcantara.

On to the outside!
Window line down it looks completely barking, window line up it looks like a Clio. When they raced them in the V6 Trophy series they had a rear spoiler fitted. Thanks to the magic of eBay so will my car, just collected it back from the painters. Obviously pics are of it unpainted

Had it back from the painters already but it wasn't the best colour match so back it went and was redone FOC. Fitted it to have a look before he had it back and it matches the lunatic look of the rest of the car.

Pic of a car with one fitted. This also has the Cromadora wheels fitted. These were the magnesium wheels Renault had made for the race series. I've been told they only ordered 5 sets per Trophy race car, in other words there aren't many available..apart from a set on eBay for 3000. Thought long and hard about these as I like them but was warned off as, with them being magnesium, they aren't really up to the rough and tumble of the UK road surfaces.

Keep updating. I would guess most of us are car lovers, so doesn't matter if it isn't an M. I used to see one of these regularly as a lad with the plate V6 0 WOW and it always stuck with me - great cars
