Is this quite a rare colour for an M3?
I don't recall seeing many adverts for cars in this colour.
Or am I wrong

I thought it was just diamond black and carbon black (which is more navy blue)

No, there's at least one with azurite black metallic, code S34, apparently.
There's also Jerez, ruby black and jet black iirc.

I thought carbon black looked blue in the sunlight. Azurite looks even more blue!
It has blue flakes in it. Quite nice - I think.

I wasn't aware that Carbon black was available on the E9x series?

Just looked at Azurite black on google image search and it does indeed look very blue, but to be fair, when the sun hits my Jerez black at the right angle etc, it looks incredibly blue.

I don't think it was
I was just saying that I thought it looked blue in the sunshine.
Thanks for the info on Jerez. I didn't know that looked blue too

I think azurite might have been a half-way individual colour, somehow.
Not full price individual but extra nonetheless.

I have a cracking photo on my phone that shows off the blue/purpleness of Jerez, give me 10 and I'll see if I can download then and upload them to Postimage.

Thanks.
Definitely a blue hue to it. Even purplish at times.

Azurite really is a difficult colour to photograph, on any old dull day or when dirty it just looks Black. It really needs direct sunlight for the colour to 'pop' it's only then the Blue flecks, some as light as Turquoise, really stand out.

I have one myself, apparently it's 1 of 24 in the UK and cost around 1000 extra when new.

I'll see if I can dig out some decent shots...

Thanks Concave I can definitely see what you mean.
It can appear plain black looking but in bright sunshine it's really quite bright blue.
Intriguing.
It looks nice with a champagne interior!

Azurite was a BMW Individual color on the “ordinary” E9x Series.
So I guess the same with M3.
I had an Individual Ruby black 335i snd I’ve seen a couple of Ruby black M3s listed.
Think they were all LCI.

Thanks Smuler. That makes sense from what I've read and seen.

Ive got an azurite black, stunning colour in my opinion especially when the navy hue comes out as seen in concaves images, was never too keen on a black M3 but this colour had me pleasantly surprised.

Looking at the photos of Azurite black, it really doesn't look much different from Jerez black. I appreciate that they may look very different in the flesh though, as it were.

Ruby black is a different matter though *drools*

My bad, I meant Jerez. But they look so similar I always mix them up. From the pics azurite looks the same too! Worst part being carbon and jerez type colours seem to be the most common BMW "black" and I they trigger my ocd for being navy blue and not black!
