Default Hastings Direct

Best price I have had on the M3 is with Hastings Direct. They've been around for a while, I have tended to be insured with specialists for the past few year, but they are all around £750 and Hastings' price is £550 which feels like quite a lot!!

Anyone insured with them or have any experiences to share?

Got my 320d with them, but they do not cover any modifications so no good on the m3.

Did cross my mind and a good point, I guess it depends if I mod in the first year...

At £500+ I don't think you can afford to tell them about any modifications

Used them for household this last twelve months and have used them for car insurance in the past. Had no issues with them but they role the insurance over if you don't tell them otherwise so watch out for that.

I’m with them at the moment. No complaints, but then I’ve not had to claim for anything so who knows...

I moved from LV due to the astronomical windscreen excess (£200!) with LV and Hastings were a little cheaper too.

Yes hastings are good - PITA to call sometimes (eg. to cancel auto renewal), queues are sometimes long.

Be sure to google 0800 numbers for hastings tho... they do exist.

The price seemed to change continually and didn't transfer correctly from moneysupermaket.

So they ended up at over £700.I went with £840 with A-Plan that included 5 track days and a lower excess and mod friendly.

Strangest company I've dealt with. Last month I used compare the market and set it for a month's time £550.

I called a few days later to take it out to start yesterday, two weeks before the quoted start date, and they insisted on a new quote - £650. Change the date new quote.

So I called Friday to start a new quote to start yesterday. £350.

Snapped it up.

I thought I was going mad that I couldn't get the same price despite the same information, could get various prices, but not the low price from money supermarket.

£350 is result... just check the policy docs!

Off the back of this thread I called Adrian Flux and Sky.

Both gave surprisingly good quotes.

My Hastings Direct policy ended up costing £380 by the time I actually accepted it and added a few bits. Adrian Flux came in at £480 with a £1000 excess and all mods declared.

Sky came in at £430 with all mods declared and an agreed value. As an extra bonus, their excess is fixed at £350 (or thereabouts).

Was a complete no-brainer. Just wish I had gone to them in the first place.

I have now disclosed every mod in a formal document and am comfortable with the cover. I'll be getting them to quote on my A5 and Q5 too now.

I got quotes from Sky previously on several GTRs. They were always competitive but I never ended up using them. Really glad I did on this occasion.
