Default Parking sensor delete

Anyone ditched the parking sensors?

I have an intermittent fault , thinking of junking the lot and smoothing the bumper

Can you have the beeeeeep coded out?

Any smoothed bumper pics would be appreciated

You don't even need to unplug anything, you adjust the volume of them, so you turn it down so they still work but you can't hear them

Get someone that can do coding etc and there's a section relating to parking sensors and it allows you to adjust the volume. I had mine turned up.

This is goddam ridiculous. The size of the community and the issue and still no one has an oe style replacement! Cmon these sensors are probably 5 each it's just finding the correct ones! Someone must know someone who knows... i trawl eBay for used sensors or bumpers in my colour to replace them with and still no luck. And they're 189 from bmw!

It is frustrating there is no easy fix!

I'm not that bothered with them, its not like I have to park in tight spaces very often, and to be honest if I had to I would prob park a mile away in a safer place and walk!

I like the idea of a fresher looking bumper as well

Agreed, said it before, I'll say it again...for the outrageous cost of the bloody things it'd be nice if they were more reliable. Having just replaced one of mine with OEM the only reassurance is that it'll have 2 year warranty, but I'd be happier just not having the ballache.

As for used ones, I was discussing with my paint guy the other day and he was quite happy that if you get used in the wrong colour, they can be gently rubbed back and repainted, thinly.

I thought the LandRover ones were about half the price, and you just swap the BMW ones to the corner positions if you have to... ?

Worked for me, but their not always reported to work well, and not in the corners.

I thought so too, but the last replacement I had to sort turned out to be one of the Disco jobs, positioned centre left. IIRC that was the one I replaced last time too.
