Default Air con recharge at kwik fit

Just had this done at kwik fit Leigh on sea near southend. 49
Excellent service, very professional & free coffee lol. Showed me best way to use it with roof up or down also to have it checked every 2 years. Said to use it at least once a week even in winter with the demist.
Big thumbs up to kwik fit from me

What did the temperature drop down to? I done mine at Kwik Fit also but left the vacuum for one hour as the longer you leave it the colder it gets. It showed -3.1 after it's like a fridge inside

Nice neck of the woods, Leigh is. I'm down there quite a bit.

Had mine done by them and was impressed, I think they dont charge if it wont gas up or leaks. Yes you should turn on regularly to lube bearings and on misty days it clears windows quicker, and I have a vert and had roof down with aircon on as well, very nice.

Out of interest, when did you last have the a/c recharged? I'm having to get it done every 2 years.

Yeah they did my 328, it was back to dead in a week so obviously did leak slowly, I expect compressor seals because it did hold pressure constant for a year, just not enough to run.

Therefore I'm a bit dubious to the level / quality of the check

Should only lose about 10% a year and about 30 usually stops it working IIRC

Just had mine done this afternoon with them, pretty good service I'd say, phoned ahead to check availability and was in having it done 15 mins later.

Hopefully it'll keep working!

In my cars which have AC, I always run it constantly as always been told it is best for the system. The only reason I know of not to do that is when every last bit of bhp is needed.

It also kills fuel economy (not that it's much of an issue with an M3 )

With my food hygiene hat on I'd say stick to beef joints so you don't get worms in your brain if it doesn't cook through. Bacon or pork chops should be OK though....

Went to Sytner Sunningdale a few weeks back to have the drivers airbag changed in line with the recall.

Whilst the car was there I got them to carry out an air-con refresh (evaporator unit cleaned and disinfected) as well as full air-con recharge. Free tea, coffee and biscuits whilst I waited. Car had a full health check and was cleaned whilst I waited too. Whole lot 69

Worth keeping an eye on Groupon for aircon re-gassing.

Got mine on a Groupon Deal for 19. Had no air-con at all.

After about 6 Weeks it had all leaked out. Took it back and they did it again with dye and only charged a tenner (on the basis they would get the work when the leak became evident).

However, it never leaked again after that.
