Default Purple label steering rack ?

What is the ratio of the purple steering rack?
Is it quicker than the csl rack?

What model car is it actually from?

3 turns lock to lock. Same ratio as the Z3 rack but has more angle.

Is that slower or faster than a Csl rack?

They don't go for much do they! 50 quid seems the norm, probably worth doing then when track rods are changed

I have no idea about the csl rack mate.

No way is 3 turns lock to lock going to be twitchy. I run 2 turns lock to lock which still isn't twitchy at high speeds.

He mean the steering angle sensor did not need software to reset it. Neither did mine when i had a new rack fitted.

Yes e46 compacts, and other e46 models with sport package, I got mine from a e46 330 ci vert. (£40 delivered, about 2 or 3 years ago now tho)

Even quicker rack is a z3 1.9 and would fit in e46, but these are rare to find and well known mod, so prices can be up to £300 for this rack second hand!!!! Not sure how this compares to csl rack, maybe even the same.

The Z3 rack is no quicker. It just has slightly less angle.

Hi
There a couple on ebay but say not suitable for the M3. I think this is probably
because the track rod ends might be different so would work if they were changed.
Is this correct?

Yes. Exactly for that reason only.

Thanks. I have a small problem which might mean I have to change the track rods
anyway so it could be good time to change the rack as well. My tracking is out but
up to now no one can undo the adjusting nuts. Having a final go next wed.

Fitted the purple tag rack on mine a few days ago, its not a night and day difference but certainly worth it for the price of the rack and some fluid.
Normally the alignement wouldn't need touched either of you can keep your existing track rods.

So, someone break it down for me. Which rack is the quickest and descending in order from there. Thanks.
