I am pretty sure it is only 3 turns lock to lock for the CSL rack also. Have a count on your setup Gibbo. Is it 3 or 2 and a bit ?

It's just shy of 3 turns lock to lock, about 2.8 to be exact.

What is stock out of curiosity?

Gibbo, how are you getting on with your MK20 DSC settings? I'm wondering if it bears any similarities to Mtrack mode? I know the MK20 was less intrusive than the MK60 out of the box, but Mtrack on the MK60 is meant to be even less intrusive.

If you have the older mk20 Dsc unit, and you drive with the traction control on then do not fit a purple tag rack!! Even with the Dsc parameters recoded to be less intrusive, the traction control still kicks in even when not pushing very hard. Obviously everything is fine with the traction off but it's hardly a night and day difference between the purple tag and standard racks. In my opinion, the negligible gains in steering feel are really not worth the hassle.

I thought as much! Good to know. I really like the steering feel in my current car so will not ruin it!

On another note is it worth making the DSC less intrusive for general road driving?

Hi,

Sorry to drag up an old thread.

There is quite a bit of confusion in this thread about which rack is quicker.

Is it the CSL rack or the purple tag rack?

Jack

I think the relative ratio's are :-

Standard M3 - 15.4 to 1
Purple Label - 14.5 to 1
CSL - 13.7 to 1

However I think I saw that the standard rack has a non linear travel and is slower around the centre position which might account for the slight dead feeling.
I have the PL fitted and I prefer it.

I've just bought myself a purple tag rack. Just been reading this thread about dsc modules. How do I know which module I have? We're they different on later models? Mine is 2004. Sorry if this is a daft question!
