Just hoping we get refunds now as the email we got today was unbelievably unprofessional!

You will be offered a credit.

I spoke to Dave last night and he is as pissed off as everyone else. Silverstone should have cancelled this event yesterday as it was obvious the weather bwouldnt let up. Instead they chose to wait until this morning after people had already travelled or had stayed the night in a local hotel.

From an organisers perspective Dave has settled the cost of circuit hire with the circuit and if they are anything like MSV circuits they want paying in full two weeks beforehand. Contracts state that the circuit will not refund cost of circuit hire in the event that a day is cancelled due to weather but instead will offer an alternative date later in the year.

I would be massively pissed off if I was him as well but it wouldn't stop me being courteous and professional to my customers. The email earlier in the week about banning the next person who calls him might have been a joke but I didn't find it very funny and I know many others didn't either.

In my 9+ years of track days and many cancellations, I've never seen comms as poor as that.

I actually thought Dave was being quite restrained in his email, I certainly wasn’t offended and actually laughed at some of the pathetic excuses he received the moment the “Beast” became a thing.

Circuit hire is an expensive and serious business, and TDOs are in an impossible position in circumstances like this.

Having been a TDO myself for the most stressful year of my life I can sympathise. It's an expensive business with huge sums of money on the line for very little gain sometimes.

I can also sympathise. You get some right ****s booking these days who want everything for nothing so I can imagine the stupid questions Dave gets asked over and over.

It was unfortunate but I can't believe how much stick Dave has got because of the weather.

Imo Dave got it spot on, working with the circuit staff and couldn't do anything else to deal with the situation, iam sure he would obviously prefer for the day to go ahead if safe to do so.
Credit or refund is same thing in my opinion and shall look forward to the next day with open Track

Those who came up with such lame excuses should stick to summer track days as it's always a gamble with the weather in March.

We kept our eye on the forecast & Silverstone looked to be missing the worst of it......

We travelled down Saturday afternoon, came through some nasty weather, arrived 5hrs later with car & trailer at the Green Man/Premier Inn at 4.30pm not a spec of snow & just 3 miles from the circuit.

It started snowing at 7pm & never let up.

We had a great night with like minded people & kinda knew itíd be off....

After breakfast we casually made our way back oop North then settled into our local at 4pm & got sozzled 😂🤣😂🤣

Daveís communication was perfect, no issues here, poor fella canít do right for doing wrong.... he cancelled Cadwell last month 48hrs in advance due to forecasted bad weather & got called for that !

Right call then as circuit was deep in snow.

A credit or refund is perfect in my book & will continue to use Opentrack 👍
