Default Cost to upgrade Audio ?

Just wondering, what would it cost to upgrade an E92 M3 from base audio to HK or Individual spec ?

Lots, i looked into it when i had a base spec 92, minium you need new door speakers and tweeters, along with an amp then recode it to hifi level, ive got hifi level ( next up from base) in my current 92 and im happy with that

Upgraded to I Audio myself.

Its about 1000 for the parts. The hard part is the install. It involves basically taking the inside apart. This kit looks ok, not sure if it comes with the loom (which you will need)

Cheers guys, so it's probably worth just holding out for a car that has the audio I want from the factory, seeing as the price of the cars with HK or Individual seem to be about the same as those with base.

What does the individual retrofit consist of? Is it just the amp, 2 subs and speakers + tweeters?

Mine has individual audio but seems a bit wasted on a track car so was going to pull it out and offer it up

There is an oem alpine upgrade from the dealers for 350ish I believe that does make a world of difference and is nice and factory. Not as good as hk but decent, oem and plug and play

Yeah I had it in my 1m and rated it. I paired it with the L7 subs under the seats and it was nice. The alpine kit consists of an amp, tweeters and mids iirc but the amp actually powers the existing subs under the seats that would have been previously run from the head unit I believe so ya kind of get more than the sum of its parts.

Not sure exactly, I think it's 16 speakers in total (including the door tweaters), plus amp and wiring loom, but there might be more to it

Ahh ok, I looked into the Alpine thing before, but noticed it didn't include subs or anything, so figured it wasn't really much of an upgrade.

Does base audio have subs as standard then ?

IAudio has a digital/fibre option loom. If you want to change it either way, you're gonna have to change the wiring everywhere.

I had the HIfi system before IA. I will say the IA is better but to be honest not massively so. I'll never sell my car so I want the best of everything, but so far this was the worst value for money upgrade ( but I still would do it knowing what I know now) In answer to your question, as long as its got HIfi or above you'll be fine volume wise.

P.S you may have to cut your door cards to do the retro, I did it, no problem.

Ok cheers, so going by that thread that you linked, HK / Logic 7 is a better option if you like a bit of bass.

I had assumed the Individual audio just added to that.

I’ve got individual audio and it’s awesome, I’ve never been able to turn it right up because it’s just too loud, I believe it’s 825watts - if you are brave enough to cut th door panels it’s well worth retro fitting best audio I’ve ever had including my naim system at home!

I want to do this because Ive also just got the base set up, but then I keep thinking that I can surely make it a little better still by adding better 4 speakers and an amp to drive them.
This would give me a two way amp for the underseat subs and a four way for the 2 front component speaker and the 2 rear coaxials.

Any thoughts??

Although I have HK listening to John's (ccfj1john) retrofitted Individual
system it is a big step up in sound quality.
