Default "TM" button on trim?

My car has a button called "TM" on the piece of trim behind the lhs indicator stalk. When I press it, something happens to the satnav, but I don't know what.

1) wtf is it for? Is it special and worth preserving?
2) if I don't use the NAV, and want to replace my trim with a replacement set, can I just cut the wires behind this and tape them up?

1) As above, Traffic Master
I have this in my car too, it's an ancient system and no longer active....

2) Yep, if replacing your trim, you can simply unplug the wires from behind the button and simply tuck them out of the way when installing your replacement trim
