i did gears on one and these guys fixed the other for me (electronic refurb)

touch wood that was back in March and the car has been fine ever since

i did a mini survey on here a while back and some actuators last a long time

You’d be better off refurbing imho

Even if they are new they will fail

Had my throttles done by Jason!
Very quick response and he was at my place in 90min!
I have chosen supply and fit option as I’m not very mechanically minded minded person.
Swapped everything in less than 2hours.All tested.Liferime warranty given.
I gave it a week to make sure all good and everything works well and as it should. No issues at all.Only thing I noticed that accelerator pedal is slightly more sensitive now.
Can highly recommend REBUILD.

Default Is it..is it not!

Hi folks sorry if asked before but im not sure if actuators are on the way out!.... did everyone just get codes thrown or was there other signs..??... asking as my 08 E90 with 67k miles has started ‘missing’... like a little hesitation when accelerating..(at any speed)!... does this sound familiar to anyone? Cheers

No. Don’t worry until you get the faults showing in idrive.

The slightest problem with an actuator will throw an error.

Spark plugs or coil packs there i'll wager, my old e92 330i did the same, cylinder 5 coil pack went and it turned into a shuddering misfire, no fault codes present either.

Just contacted rebuild.org.uk for a quote. Aaron at AR Perf has also quoted a great price but I live 180miles away so am a little apprehensive to make the journey in limp mode.
Thanks for the advise on here so far... we all need it at some point... me at almost exactly 60K!!

What other factors are causing actuators failure? I know failures occur under a lot of different mileages, is it dependent on how it has been driven? Im looking at a car that has had both replaced and has only done 35000 miles. Should i be concerned?

if it is replace with oem then you have concerns later on , but if it has been replaced with upgraded gears and electronics with lifetime warranty from Jason at Rebuild.org. then you are covered

Called Rebuild.org.uk after reading good words here on Cutters… had the car booked elsewhere but the car was un-drivable due to constant limp mode.
We managed to fit in a time that suited us and Ben came out last Friday night after work from Kent (I’m in Herefordshire!!)… fitted both acks in no time at all.
I drove over 400 miles this weekend and the car is smoother, more responsive and just feels newer, if that makes sense.

Word of warning though… beware of the improved throttle response, wind yourself in to it as I was about 3 miles from home and VERY nearly came a cropper as there was way more throttle than I have been used to at that point on the pedal input!

Great service, brilliant price, do it if you need to. Thanks Jason & Ben.
