Anyone here got one ? Just wondering how it is to live with, getting an itch for an American v8 muscle car. Drove a manual last winter but couldn't get to push it as it was wet and cold, definitely more of a cruiser but nothing as bad as the old one around corners! Also prices seem to be holding up really well (was told there's 1yr lead time on new one)

If you're meaning the latest range which also has rhd, then read on. It's one that's been in the back of my mind, thinking about used prices in the future, after someone else has taken the hit on forecourt depreciation. A couple of weeks back the Sunday Times driving section reviewed the 2.3 eco-boost. I'm assuming the bodies are mostly common.

Well it turns out that the European independent safety tests only gave it two stars out of five, the lowest for any mainstream car in nearly 10 years.

They found rear passengers would slide under the seat belts and airbags inflated insufficiently, it also lacked the sort of sophisticated braking system that even a fiesta has. As Clarkson pointed out that explains the apparently cheap price.

Have to admit I was shocked to read about that.

These are bought by fat bald middle aged men that think they know about cars.
Typical hideous looking unsophisticated yank tanks.
I hate American cars. Not sure I got that point across

I had one for 3 weeks. I had the 5 litre Gt.

It's the first American car I've got in and thought "this is pretty nice"

Engine is nice but doesn't feel particularly fast at all. Auto box is boring as hell, handling is ok but not a patch on a Euro equivalent.

Fuel usage is ****. Overall a nice cruiser, but not really a car I would even try to compare to a M3

I quite fancied one for a bit of a change but the lack of safety is a concern, not too bothered about me but I would have to drive like Miss Daisy when my son is in the back, so not much point really.

Iirc the shape mustang in the video used a Live rear axle, although I am not sure if it was changed in the Shelby, so handling was god awful. The latest shape is better, but I'm not how much better.

I have seen that video before.l but the compilation showed idiots who didn't know how to drive smashing Ferraris, etc as they could handle the power
And floored it with the front wheels turned.

I'm not sure about safety but in my opinion the problem with these big engines yank cars are they are designed for American roads and not our smaller more twisty roads.

Give me a good European car any day (or a few select jap Cars)

New model is much, much better in every regard. The last one was awful. Had one as a hire car for 3 weeks in San Diego.

Think they look a bit silly over here in bright colours (black isn't so bad). But the new one still drives more like my old 350z than a m4.

Isn't the main attraction of these the fact that they go for peanuts in the states (entry-level warm/hot hatch cash in europe)? Once they arrive across the pond they're no long the bargain proposition they used to be.

I keep meaning to go test drive the new v8 Mustang, I wasn't interested until one drove past me foot to the floor and sounded like thunder, it was probably as loud as my mates c63 when it flew past, was like music to my ears. Why people get the EcoBoost engine in them I'll never know lol
