Car: E92 M3 MC, Previous Megane 275
Default M3 Monte Carlo

Picked this up a month ago from Bristol. Ive no idea on the car's history, if you recognise it I'd be interested to know a bit more about it.

Its a 2009 Monte Carlo, 58k miles, EDC, DCT car. I'd been after an E92 M3 for a few months and after missing out on another MC, went 150 miles to collect this one. I missed out on one up the road (7 miles away from me, doh) and there was another in London, a member on here I think, but the car was a bit 'instagram scene' for my liking. Mind you Ive no idea what the car's previous 5 owners have done to it! I really wanted a comp pack car in Silverstone 2 or Japan/Electric red like Scutch's but couldnt find one I liked, but comps were a little out of budget, I didnt realise until purchasing this has the comp springs on it?

I cannot capture the colour right on my SLR, I dont know why!

Plans for it are basically what Keith did to his minus the front splitters. The 220Ms dont really do it for me and the black wheels are not at all photogenic so I think 12mm rear spacers and Chris's 359's in hyper silver are in order sometime I think. Then itll be onto rear spoiler, CF mirrors, exhaust mod. Should be visiting Ian for some updates shortly as well.

Hi Mike, stunning!

Glad you’ve got yourself something special.

Re PM: yes 12mm spacers at rear. Chris will sort you these out too, with the correct bolts and locking nuts too for a great price

Thanks all, I am really undecided on wheels. The MC I was going to buy originally had satin black 359's, Kev's with Satin black 359's looked bloody good, but then so does Keiths on Silver. The more I look at photos of the 220s in black the more I hate them.

i have to say i like the 359s in silver, i wanted to get silver schnitzer 5 spoke wheels for my monte but at the time i thought i could put that money towards an F80, and i did!
Im glad i tried one but id prefer a good E92! it would of eaten me up if i didnt make the move for an f80 , its better to try something and not like it rather than thinking what might of been and its made me realise how good 92s are , i didnt realise it when i had my monte!

Surprising how many people say the same thing about the f80. What you got now? F80 still?

I’m in the same boat with mine mate (although Japan Red). Think silver looks fresher but something about the 359’s in black suits the shape and dimensions of the car. Especially on red or blue, as above.

Lovely car

I've gone with black. Ordered some from Chris today. Mainly because that's the Monte Carlo edition colour scheme.

359's installed with 12mm spacers. Not hugely impressed with the finish on them but whatever they are reps after all. Just covered in water marks and the paint finish was a bit marked on the edge of the rim - almost like very minor kerb damage. Cant decide on the tyre stretch at the rear, I might increase the tyre width and remove or buy a smaller spacer.

LCI lights installed (thanks GarethB)

Visit to Ian to get various things coded, I see why people like the comp pack so much and the GTS gearbox software is heaps better.

Pants down at the stealers for a filter and oil service.

looking nice, like mine looked, yeah comp pack edc is awesome ,such a difference over stock edc, you can put it in the top setting on some twisties and its like on rails, couldnt put it in top setting with the normal edc , far to harsh and bouncy, well worth it, i miss edc!

Cheers both, saw your SSII today in your thready. Lovely.

Unfortunately I have a horrendous vibration at 70/80 mph with these wheels on. Ive read different forums. I might try taking it down to Wheels In Motion and having them road forced or something and get my geo. done at the same time.

Really gutted as Ive basically ruined the car now.

I am going to re-torque the wheels and see if thats got anything to do with it and double check tyre pressures.

e/

Slight update below... re-torque and correct pressures has improved considerably.

e2 /

I actually took it to Kwik Fit, they re-balanced and said it was 25g out. All perfect now. Smooth as you like.

Thanks No mate, Weybridge area.

Just re-torqued the wheels on the ground (sinner) and adjusted pressures. I am pretty sure the bolts were 'best guess make sure its on good and proper', but these are at 88lbft now. Tyre pressure was 2.7bar ffs, adjusted these to stock 2.3/2.4, quick drive up and down the m-way and its improved significantly, ever so slight wobble at 80, at 70 its barely noticeable, certainly be happy doing a long journey. As the needle climbs into jelly bean territory it becomes very noticeable.

Ill take it to WIM and have the geo setup and ask them to do a proper balance on the wheels. Hopefully thatll sort it but itll be a few weeks yet.
