Default Bmw e46 m3 bluetooth nightmare!!!

Hello! I'm new to this forum & I'm hoping someone on here has some answers 2 what is currently driving me mad!
I want 2 retrofit Bluetooth 2 my m3, I've seen many threads and how to do guides from hours of searching google but no one seems 2 have the same problem as me. My phone has had a Nokia kit fitted that I have removed and has a Motorola system in it from factory, during its life someone has been messing around with wiring and I'm trying to find a retrofit loom so I can start again or maybe someone that could point me in the right direction as what to do.
I have the sat nav Mk 4, Harmon kardon and an mp3 changer I put in. I've had a nose under the boot trim and found it has a bm54 unit if that makes any difference. It also looks like a previous owner put a wire from the bm54 unit harness to somewhere in the front but I've removed it. I've already got a ULF and antenna ready to install, which says mit ses on it so I think its a voice command one? I'm loosing my mind here I don't know where to begin!

Are you 100% sure you don't already have bluetooth?

John also sourced me a ulf unit which worked perfectly with my IPhone, but now I'm using a Samsung phone it doesn't work properly. John said it's probably because Samsung don't conform to the phone standards but Apple do and the ulf is a gen 4 or 5. He said possibly a later gen ulf might work but couldn't guarantee it plus they are rare and expensive. Just a heads up if your not using an Apple phone. The Samsung does work in my 2013 Golf

IIRC most manufacturers stopped supporting the very old and out of date bluetooth profiles that were on the early 2000's cars, quite reasonably IMO.

I had this problem with my 2004 BT module and upgraded it to an 8th gen one from a Mini and it works with all phones. Only cost me around 110 and was plug and play.

I am looking to add this to a car I am hopefully buying. It seems to have most options less the phone option looking at the build sheet. I quite like the idea of a newer module thingy. Can we have a few more details and, as a relatively new member, who can help with some techs advice on this?

Thanks,

David

I replaced mine with one from a mini (think its a 6th gen if i remember correctly) and it works fine with my HTC one M9 as my gen 4 didnt work at all. Hope this helps.
