Smile My M5 for your viewing pleasure

Seeing as so many of you have asked to see pictures of my newly purchased M5, I thought I may as well start a build thread.

Following a very long search for the right example, it is with great pleasure that I can introduce to you my facelift specification Sapphire Black BMW E60 M5, which I collected on 13/12/11.
Over and above the extensive standard M5 specification, she benefits from.....

* Full Individual Sepang pearlescent Bronze (Cream to you and me) Nappa leather, with black nappa leather upper dashboard\door cards and alcantara headlining
* Electric Glass Sunroof
* Power Boot
* Comfort Access (keyless open/start)
* Harmon Kardon Logic 7
* High gloss Piano Black interior trims
* Privacy Glass
* Bluetooth Connection and Telematics
* Digital TV
* M Boot Spoiler
* Head Up Display (HUD)
* M Adaptive front seats
* Front/Rear Heated Seats

She is in excellent condition both mechanically and visually, Benefiting from full BMW main dealer service History and full comprehensive BMW warranty with no end date.

Today 17/12/11 was the first opportunity I have had to give her a quick clean. A full paint correction detail with step by step pictures will follow in due course, but for now I gave her a quick once over and a coat of Swissvax Shield to give the paint a little protection. I removed the numberplates in order to address the double sided tape residue behind them and the M5 boot badge as it was faded.

Overall, I am very, very happy with the car and am impatiently awaiting the arrival of my M5 Alcon Superkit BBK http://www.alcon.co.uk/download/brak...t-brochure.pdf and my ADV1 wheels http://www.adv1wheels.com/adv1wheels...on/ADV10TS.php.

In the mean time this petrol station specification tax disc holder wasn’t doing it for me, neither were the 2007 sat-nav discs, along with a slight scratch on the leather of the steering wheel.

A black ACS tax disc holder came in the post today, as did my 2012 nav discs. I collected my brand new black nappa leather steering wheel to satisfy my OCD but sadly ran out of daylight and couldn’t feel my fingers so thats a job for another day.

Our “Handy man” Paul has got my lug conversion and I am awaiting the arrival of my AC Schnitzer floor matts from Rossiters.

The Evolve E-tronic exhaust system is very very tempting as I was adamant on an Active Autowerkes system. We shall see in Feb when the Evolve units are available

19/12/11 Arrived home from work to find a package from Rossiters (AC Schnitzer UK) waiting for me

I won't fit these until Spring but I'm adamant that I want to keep this journal as detailed and accurate as possible

31/11/11
Nothing major to report but I want to keep this journal as accurate as possible.
Went and met up with Hidesh from CPD www.carproductsdirect.com last night.
I have ordered some custom painted OEM bonnet/Boot roundels from Mfest in the states which are finished in matte black with gloss black accents and a matching M5 bootlid badge and side grill badges.

These won’t be ready for a while so I picked up some black carbon badges and a few other bits to keep me busy until the full blown modding begins.

First to go was the OEM blue/white steering wheel badge which was replaced with a black/white version.

Next up was the OEM boot badge

A quick clean

Followed by the bonnet badge

My next job was changing all of the interior bulbs for LEDs

Roof lining front

Roof lining rear

Lower door lights

Foot well (yes I know it needs a good clean under here)

Boot

Rear Number plate lights, you may have noticed that I have treated myself to a new number plate too

Big thanks to Katie K and Paul for naming the beast. The M5 will now be known as................................................ .........................

BIG BLACK

For anyone who doesn't know who Big Black is

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Boykin

14/1/12

My Alcon Superkit BBK has arrived, the discs will be kept under wraps unil they are fitted and the calipers will be going off to paint next week

I also thought I'd share a few sneak pics of my ADV1 Trak function wheels. These are now safely stored until spring having had a coat of ceramic shield applied by Russ of Reflectology

I have also ordered some custom roundels and badges from the states. These are oem items which have been custom painted. This is the pic I was sent, I've asked for the M and 5 on the side grill badges to be painted gloss black to contrast against the matte background. They are being posted out to me next week

It's a lovely car in standard form so whatever you do, don't ruin it by festooning it with to much ACS tat ( especially the exterior ). Keep it subtle yet effective.
