Default Sytner BMW Oldbury - Avoid

I popped in to speak to someone about a service as its due and oil change soon, I spoke to a lad, Its bugging me as I have forgotten his name now.

But anyway, Not only did he quote me over £100 more than any other BMW dealer I have spoken to, and that was with his (mates rates discount)

He wasn't happy about booking me in on a Saturday, as they close early, and his in words, ("we like to go before closing time so we can get to the pub earlier enit, no one wants to be working Saturdays")

His attitude and the way he spoke was shocking, how he got a job is beyond me. Just basically didn't want to book me in because he don't want nothing In the workshop on Saturdays on the chance something went wrong or slightly ran over he wasn't prepared to take the chance as he likes to get out early

The price, he said it should be £450 but would apply his discount ("so lets call it £420") he said. When 3 other dealers have all quoted £336. for the exact same service.

Shocking experience

Tbh I only trust Sytner Tamworth (used to be Sutton Coldfield) and I live in Wolves. Always excellent service and it helps I know pretty much everyone there LOL.

I don't think I've walked into a Sytner dealer and been terribly impressed. That includes Oldbury, Tamworth, Birmingham, Coventry and especially Solihull.

The guy from Solihull followed me up about their M3 told him I'd bought one and their PX price was £3500 away and he practically called me a liar.

I won't use Benham in Wolves because they kerbed my e46 wheel and then lied about it, always also offer crap PX prices and recently denied a warranty claim on a 3 month old car and presented me with a 3 grand Bill to replace all my springs and shocks and wheels bearings on said car due to one wheel hitting a pothole.

I now only go to Rybrook in Worcester.

The owner is well into M cars and the bosses and they genuinely show interest in your car and want to chat away. I like the personal service.

^^^ Stuart, I had a very similar experience with Sytner Coventry. Told him what I wanted to do a deal. He went away and came back with a "deal" that required a £6k greater deposit, monthlies at £200 more than I was willing to pay and 10.9% APR. Told him to jog on. He followed up a week later. By then, I'd bought from Berry in Heathrow instead. He couldn't believe I'd done a better deal. Muppet.

I had a brake fluid service done at Birmingham and it was OK

Also had a oil service at Solihull, again it was OK

However, I waited 5 weeks so that I didn't have to wait around and me and the Mrs could have a courtesy car so we could go out for the day as she has Mondays off, just to get there and be told I couldn't as I had my license 3 months!!!!!!

Why on earth they didn't tell me this when booking, so me and the Mrs sat there for 2,5 hours waiting after we made plans to do a few things

Guy at Sytner Coventry told me he was the top Sytner salesman in the country. How that affects me I'm still not sure now?

Lads unless you really want the bmw stamp I'd avoid them all, all they're good at is making idiots feel special and ripping em a new one.

There is a chap in earlswood called Noel, he's really decent and ex bmw. Also if you from oldbury sides there is a German specialist

I actually ended up sourcing my AUC car from Sytner Coventry's yard through the Leicester branch, as the Cov salesman didn't have a clue. Total wideboy who I took great pleasure in telling I'd bought the very car he wouldn't let me take for a test drive from up the road.

In contrast, I've found Sytner Leics to be spot on - just took it in for an oil and brake fluid change and was just handled properly throughout, which sounds simple but given some dealer horror stories you do wonder. Definitely worth the half hour up the motorway from Brum.

I've tried a few dealers.

Cov Sytner:
Never impressed with their sales at all, tried several times to buy a car from them but they were just woeful.
But I've found their service dept to be pretty good, used them for my E46 M3s and now my current cars since I fell out with Rybrook Warwick.

Leic Sytner:
Lied about the Ex-Palmersport car I bought from them.

Tam Sytner:
Had a great Sales experience with them.
Not sure about service, I ring about stuff but they never ring back!

Rybrook Warwick:
Used them for service for years until I caught them in a lie.
Rather than just put their hands up, they tried to blag it...really disappointing as I liked that dealership.

I like them too, but this sounds dodgy - are you able to elaborate?

Long story short:
They did an alignment on my E92 M3....But it was still pulling to the left when I got it back.
Went to adjust it myself but found that the front RHD tie rod was seized solid so questioned how they could have adjusted the front toe.
They said it hadn't needed adjusting so they had left it alone.
I pointed them to their alignment printout that showed a change in the front toe setting!

In the end I spent a few hours freeing off the tie rod end, adjusted the front toe myself and the car drove perfectly afterwards.

Its a truism in life that once you catch someone in a lie you can never trust a word they say.
Even so I would have let it slide if they had just said...bring the car in and we will sort it.

Hmm, yes that indeed is very naughty - and a bit silly on their behalf.

Weirdly we had really good service from Sytner Mini in Cov when buying/dealing with the Mrs. Coupe - strange how a dealer on the same premises can be so different - both in sales and aftersales service, they could never do enough for us.

Parts at Sytner Cov for my E46 were good and tbh both airbag recalls were handled well - never bought a car through them though.

Been a few years since I used Rybrook Warwick but years ago my Dad had several new cars from them with excellent service and always went there for bits for my E30. Shame they appear to have gone downhill.

I can only speak as I find and I have always had excellent service from Rybrook Warwick and I've been going there since it was called Jan & Alan Kerr's. I found that The Cov dealer was good when they were Godfrey Hall BMW, but went downhill when they became Sytner Coventry. That said, not used them for years, so things might have changed.
